Target Information

The breast cancer early onset proteins BRCA1 and BRCA2 are key factors in DNA damage repair by homologous recombination, associated with inherited breast and ovarian cancers.
PALB2 is essential for BRCA2 localization to DNA damage sites and functions as a breast cancer susceptibility gene. It interacts directly with BRCA1, organizing BRCA2 and RAD51 at DNA damage sites.
Analysis of the BRCA1–PALB2–BRCA2–RAD51 network may help predict tumor responsiveness to therapeutic treatments.
At least four isoforms of PALB2 are known to exist.
