Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of Bcr only when phosphorylated at Tyrosine 177.
Target Information
A reciprocal translocation between chromosomes 22 and 9 produces the Philadelphia chromosome, commonly found in patients with chronic myelogenous leukemia. The chromosome 22 breakpoint is located within the BCR gene, leading to a BCR-ABL fusion protein encoded by sequences from both genes. While the fusion protein has been extensively studied, the normal BCR protein’s function remains unclear. It exhibits serine/threonine kinase activity and acts as a GTPase-activating protein for p21rac. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
