PCNA (polymerase delta auxiliary protein)은 DNA 복제에 필수적인 단백질로, DNA 절제 및 불일치 복구 경로에 관여합니다.
PCNA는 CDK 억제제 p21, 구조 특이적 엔도뉴클레아제 Fen1 및 XPG, DNA cytosine 5-methyltransferase(MCMT)와 결합합니다.
세포 증식 잠재력을 가진 세포의 마커로서, 종양 조직의 증식 상태를 확인하는 데 유용합니다.
PCNA는 G1 및 S phase 세포 주기 단계의 핵 내에 존재하며, DNA polymerase delta의 보조 인자로 작용합니다.
DNA 손상 시 PCNA는 RAD6-의존적 DNA 복구 경로에 관여하는 유비퀴틴화 과정을 거칩니다.
두 가지 전사 변이체가 동일한 단백질을 암호화하며, 염색체 4 및 X 염색체 상에 PCNA 유사유전자가 보고되었습니다.
