PA1-085 detects MAL from rat, mouse, xenopus, and human samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot procedures.
By Western blot, this antibody detects an approximately 17 kDa protein corresponding to MAL from rat kidney extracts.

The immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues C(114)F D G F T Y (R/K) H Y H E N I(126) of human MAL.
This peptide (Cat. # PEP-249) can be used in neutralization and control experiments.

Target Information

MAL is a nonglycosylated integral membrane proteolipid identified as a major internal component of glycolipid-enriched membrane (GEM) microdomains.
It plays a key role in the cellular apical sorting apparatus for newly synthesized proteins.
In steady state, this hydrophobic proteolipid resides predominantly in the apical zone of polarized epithelial cells and also cycles between the plasma membrane and endosomes.
The 17-kDa proteolipid contains four putative transmembrane domains that define its trafficking properties and localization signals.
