Target Information
Myosin binding protein C, cardiac-type (MYBPC3) is a thick filament-associated protein located in the crossbridge region of vertebrate striated muscle A bands. It binds MHC, F-actin, and native thin filaments, modifying the activity of actin-activated myosin ATPase. It may modulate muscle contraction or play a structural role. Mutations in MYBPC3 are associated with cardiomyopathies such as familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, dilated cardiomyopathy, and left ventricular non-compaction.
