Target Information

Anti-viral innate immune responses are triggered by pathogen-associated molecular patterns, such as intracellular nucleic acids resulting from viral infections. These responses represent the first line of defense against infectious organisms. Toll-like receptors (TLR3, 7, 8, 9) detect foreign nucleic acids as transmembrane pattern recognition receptors in immune cells.
RIG-I and MDA5, members of the CARD-helicase family, perform similar roles in the cytoplasm. LGP2 is structurally related to RIG-I and MDA5 but lacks a CARD domain, suggesting it functions as a negative-feedback regulator in intracellular antiviral signaling. At least four isoforms of LGP2 have been identified.
