Target Information
PKM2 (Pyruvate kinase M2) catalyzes the conversion of phosphoenolpyruvate to pyruvate and ATP. It interacts with thyroid hormone and may mediate metabolic effects induced by thyroid hormones. PKM2 also binds to the bacterial Opa protein, suggesting a role in bacterial pathogenesis. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding two distinct isoforms of PKM2 have been reported.
