Target Information
STING is a 379 amino acid signaling protein that acts as an important component of innate immune signaling. It activates both NF-kappa-B and IRF3 transcription pathways to induce type I interferon (IFN-alpha and IFN-beta) expression, leading to a potent antiviral state. STING may also participate in translocon function, influence interferon induction, and mediate apoptotic signaling via association with MHC-II. It is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, and mitochondrial outer membrane, and is ubiquitously expressed in most tissues.
