This antibody detects endogenous levels of total Presenilin 2.
Target Information
Mutations in the presenilin proteins (PSEN1 or PSEN2) or the amyloid precursor protein (APP) are linked to inherited forms of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). These mutations increase production of the longer amyloid-beta form, a major component of amyloid deposits in AD brains. Presenilins are believed to regulate APP processing via gamma-secretase activity and may also influence Notch receptor cleavage. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different PSEN2 isoforms have been identified.
