The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.

Target Information

T-cell protein tyrosine phosphatase (TC-PTP), also known as PTPT and PTPN2, is an enzyme that removes phosphate groups covalently attached to tyrosine residues in proteins. This enzyme has two C-terminal splice variants with distinct subcellular localizations.

• The 45 kDa isoform is nuclear in resting cells but redistributes to the cytosol upon stimulation with growth factors or cellular stress.
• The 48 kDa isoform is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum and has different physiological substrates.

TC-PTP is expressed in many cell types, especially in hematopoietic cells. Knockout mice lacking TC-PTP die 3–5 weeks after birth due to erythropoietic and lymphopoietic deficits, indicating its essential role in bone marrow maturation. TC-PTP dephosphorylates various phosphoproteins, including p52 Shc and receptors for EGF, insulin, and growth hormone.
