Product Specific Information
PA1-18256 detects alpha, beta, and gamma Synuclein from human and rat samples.
Reconstitute with 100 µL of distilled water. After reconstitution, store aliquots at -20ºC for higher stability, and at 4ºC with an appropriate antibacterial agent.
Target Information
Alpha-synuclein is a member of the synuclein family, which also includes beta- and gamma-synuclein. These proteins are abundant in the brain and play a role in regulating synaptic transmission and membrane trafficking. Alpha- and beta-synuclein selectively inhibit phospholipase D2, suggesting involvement in signaling pathways.
Mutations in the SNCA gene, encoding alpha-synuclein, are linked to Parkinson’s disease. Alpha-synuclein peptides are also a major component of amyloid plaques in Alzheimer’s disease. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been identified.
