This antibody detects tyrosine phosphorylation in activated cells.
Target Information
Tyrosine phosphorylation plays a critical role in the transduction of mitogenic signals from transmembrane receptors and in transformation by oncogene tyrosine kinases. It serves as a primary mechanism of signal transduction during normal mitogenesis, cell cycle progression, and oncogenic transformation. Antibodies specific to phosphorylated tyrosine residues are invaluable tools for studying phosphorylated proteins and related biochemical pathways. FITC-conjugated forms, such as clone PY20, are particularly useful for detecting P-Tyr proteins in immunohistochemical and immunocytochemical applications where secondary antibody use may complicate detection.
