This antibody recognizes both free and complexed PSA.
Target Information
PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) is a chymotrypsin-like serine protease of the kallikrein family produced by prostate epithelium. It is abundant in seminal fluid and detectable in sera of patients with prostatic carcinoma. PSA is predominantly complexed with alpha-1-antichymotrypsin (ACT), and the proportion of PSA-ACT complex is higher in prostate cancer than in benign prostatic hyperplasia. PSA is used to confirm prostatic acinar cell origin in primary and metastatic carcinoma and to exclude non-prostatic carcinoma mimics.
