Target Information
The 14-3-3 theta gene product belongs to the 14-3-3 family of proteins that mediate signal transduction by binding phosphoserine-containing proteins. This highly conserved family is found in plants and mammals. The protein is 99% identical to mouse and rat orthologs and is upregulated in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Its 5′ UTR contains a 6 bp tandem repeat sequence that is polymorphic, though not correlated with disease.
