Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Beta-catenin is an adherens junction (AJ) protein involved in cell-cell adhesion and regulation of epithelial cell layer formation. It interacts with E-cadherin and alpha-catenin, linking to the actin cytoskeleton. Beta-catenin also associates with the adenomatous polyposis coli protein and microtubules, participating in signaling pathways including Wnt/Wingless. It is expressed in various hair follicle and epithelial cells and is implicated in cancers such as pilomatrixoma, medulloblastoma, colorectal, ovarian, and other solid tumors. In the nucleus, beta-catenin co-activates Lef/Tcf transcription factors, promoting transcription of genes like cyclin D and c-myc, which drive cell proliferation and tumorigenesis.
