Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- For formalin-fixed tissues: Heat tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 minutes before staining.
Target Information
Beta-catenin is an adherens junction (AJ) protein involved in cell-cell adhesion and epithelial layer formation. It interacts with E-cadherin and alpha-catenin, linking the adhesion complex to the actin cytoskeleton. Beta-catenin also associates with the adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) protein and microtubules, participating in signaling pathways such as Wnt/Wingless. Dysregulation of beta-catenin is implicated in several cancers, including colorectal, ovarian, and breast tumors. In the nucleus, it coactivates Lef/Tcf transcription factors that regulate genes like cyclin D and c-myc, promoting cell proliferation and tumorigenesis.
