Product Specific Information

  • Antibody tested in direct ELISA.
  • For immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed tissues): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

Beta-catenin is an adherens junction (AJ) protein crucial for cell-cell adhesion and epithelial layer maintenance. It interacts with E-cadherin and alpha-catenin to link adhesion complexes to the actin cytoskeleton.
Beta-catenin also associates with the adenomatous polyposis coli protein and microtubules, participating in multiple signaling pathways (e.g., Wnt/Wingless).
It regulates morphogenesis and is expressed in various hair follicle and epithelial cells. Pathologically, beta-catenin plays a role in pilomatrixoma, medulloblastoma, colorectal and ovarian cancers, and other solid tumors.
In the nucleus, it co-activates Lef/Tcf transcription factors, promoting expression of proliferation-related genes such as cyclin D and c-myc — a mechanism underlying its role in tumorigenesis.
