Product Specific Information

The 53-6.7 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD8a molecule, a 32–34 kDa cell surface receptor expressed as CD8αβ heterodimers or CD8αα homodimers. CD8 interacts with MHC class I and associates with p56lck, playing a role in T cell development and activation.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested on mouse thymocytes and splenocytes. Recommended ≤0.25 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Optimal titration required.

Fluorophore Information:
Alexa Fluor® 532 is excited with a Green laser (532 nm) and emits at 561 nm. Not compatible with Yellow-Green laser (561 nm). Recommended filter: 560/14 band pass.
Excitation: 532 nm; Emission: 561 nm; Laser: Green.

Target Information

CD8 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein functioning as a co-receptor for MHC class I molecules. It is expressed on T cells, NK cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells. CD8α chain mediates MHC-I binding and recruits Lck for signal transduction, leading to CTL activation and pathogen clearance. Differentiation of naive CD8+ T cells into CTLs is enhanced by IL-2, IL-12, and TGF-β1.
