Target Information
Nuclear factor kB p65 (NF-kB p65) is encoded by the RELA gene on chromosome 11 in humans. Also known as RelA (v-rel avian reticuloendotheliosis viral oncogene homolog A), it belongs to the Rel protein family. NF-kB p65 forms a heterodimer with p50 or p52 subunits of NF-kB, regulating transcription of immune-related genes. TNF-α binding activates IKK, leading to phosphorylation and degradation of IκB, allowing NF-kB to translocate to the nucleus. It plays a key role in transcription of the immunoglobulin κ (kappa) gene in mature B-lymphoid cells.
