SERPINA3는 Alpha 1-Antichymotrypsin (Alpha-1-ACT)을 암호화하는 유전자로, 급성기 반응성 혈장 단백질 및 serpin 계열 효소 억제제입니다. 이 단백질은 주로 chymotrypsin, cathepsin G, chymase를 불활성화하며, 알츠하이머병(AD) 및 노화된 인간·원숭이 뇌의 아밀로이드 플라크와 밀접하게 관련되어 있습니다. 또한, serine protease 및 해당 억제제의 조절은 신경근 분화에 중요한 역할을 합니다. PSA(전립선 특이 항원)는 Alpha-1-ACT와 주로 복합체를 형성합니다.
