Target Information
FBJ murine osteosarcoma viral oncogene homolog, commonly known as Cellular proto-oncogene Fos (c-Fos), belongs to the Fos transcription factor family and is encoded by the C-FOS gene on chromosome 14.
c-Fos forms a heterodimer with c-Jun to create the Activator Protein-1 (AP-1) transcription factor, which regulates transcription of genes involved in signal transduction, cell proliferation, and differentiation.
It is phosphorylated by multiple stimuli, including growth factors and insulin, at several sites. The ERK MAPK kinase phosphorylates c-Fos at Threonine 232, regulating its nuclear localization and transcriptional activity.
