Target Information
The Suppressor of Cytokine Signaling (SOCS) and cytokine-inducible SH2 proteins are a family of intracellular regulators that modulate immune cell responses to cytokines.
SOCS1 functions by inhibiting JAK tyrosine kinase activity, thereby preventing excessive dendritic cell and T-cell activation.
It also exhibits E3 ubiquitin ligase activity, promoting degradation of target proteins through the proteasome pathway.
Through this mechanism, SOCS1 negatively regulates Toll-like receptor signaling (TLR2 and TLR4) by mediating the degradation of the adaptor protein TIRAP.
