Target Information
Interleukin 6 receptor (IL6R), also known as CD126, is a type I cytokine receptor that forms part of the IL6 receptor complex. IL6 is a potent cytokine regulating cell growth, differentiation, and immune response. The IL6 receptor complex includes IL6R and the IL6 signal transducer (IL6ST/GP130). Dysregulated IL6/IL6R expression is associated with diseases such as multiple myeloma, autoimmune disorders, and prostate cancer. Alternative splicing produces distinct isoforms, and a pseudogene exists on chromosome 9.
