Product Specific Information
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. Antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned, and individual clones are screened to select optimal candidates.
Key advantages include:
- Enhanced specificity and sensitivity
- Consistent performance across lots
- Animal-origin-free formulation
- Broader immunoreactivity due to the large rabbit immune repertoire
Target Information
BST2 (CD317, HM1.24 antigen, DAMP-2, tetherin) is an integral membrane protein involved in B-cell development and growth. It is expressed on fibroblast cell lines and facilitates stromal cell-dependent growth of pre-B-cell lines.
BST2 is highly expressed during B-cell maturation and also found in T-cells, monocytes, NK cells, DCs, and myeloma cells.
Research indicates BST2 inhibits retrovirus release from human cells, an activity counteracted by HIV-1 Vpu protein. Depletion of BST2 abolishes the viral requirement for Vpu, suggesting a potential therapeutic target for HIV/AIDS.
BST2 dysfunction is also associated with stomatitis.
