Target Information
The expression of DUSP1 gene is induced in human skin fibroblasts by oxidative or heat stress and growth factors. It encodes a protein similar to the non-receptor-type protein-tyrosine phosphatase family and shares sequence similarity with a Tyr/Ser-protein phosphatase from vaccinia virus. The bacterially expressed DUSP1 protein exhibits intrinsic phosphatase activity, specifically inactivating MAP kinase by dephosphorylating both phosphothreonine and phosphotyrosine residues. DUSP1 is involved in the cellular response to environmental stress and the negative regulation of cell proliferation.
