Product Specific Information

This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of mouse CD4 transmembrane glycoprotein (55 kDa).


Target Information

The CD4 antigen is involved in the recognition of MHC class II molecules and acts as a co-receptor for HIV. CD4 is primarily expressed in T helper cells but may also be found in monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells.
At the tissue level, CD4 expression can be observed in the thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and specific regions of the brain and gut. CD4 functions to initiate or enhance early T-cell activation through association with the T-cell receptor complex and protein tyrosine kinase Lck.
It may also mediate neuronal damage in infectious and immune-mediated CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
