This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).

Target Information

BCL-XL is a member of the BCL-2 protein family, which forms hetero- or homodimers and acts as anti- or pro-apoptotic regulators involved in diverse cellular activities. Located at the outer mitochondrial membrane, BCL-XL regulates VDAC channel opening, influencing mitochondrial membrane potential, reactive oxygen species production, and cytochrome C release—key factors in apoptosis induction.

Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encode distinct isoforms:

• Longer isoform: apoptotic inhibitor
• Shorter isoform: apoptotic activator
