Target Information

CXCR5 (C-X-Chemokine Receptor Type 5, CD185), also known as Burkitt lymphoma receptor 1 (BLR1), belongs to the CXC chemokine receptor family and functions as a G protein-coupled receptor for chemokine BLC.
CXCR5 is specifically expressed in Burkitt’s lymphoma and lymphoid tissues such as lymph node follicles and spleen. It plays a crucial role in B cell migration. Expression has been observed in human blood, salivary gland, and various animal organs including lymphatic tissues, bone marrow, brain, liver, spleen, and tonsil.

G-protein Coupled Receptors (GPCRs) form one of the largest families of signaling molecules, characterized by seven transmembrane helices. They exist in active and inactive forms and are regulated by diverse ligands and downstream signaling pathways.
Negative regulation of GPCRs is critical for cellular physiology and continues to be a major focus in pharmacological research, leading to the development of drugs such as Zyprexa (Eli Lilly) and Claritin (Schering-Plough).
