Target Information
DUSP18 (E.C 3.1.3.16) is a member of the highly conserved protein-tyrosine phosphatase superfamily. These enzymes cooperate with protein kinases and play critical roles in cell cycle regulation and mitogenic signal transduction.
DUSP18 is a low molecular weight protein containing a conserved N-terminal DSP domain but lacking a CH2 domain. It uniquely interacts with and dephosphorylates SAPK/JNK, inhibiting its activity in vivo and potentially regulating the SAPK/JNK signaling pathway. Northern blot analysis indicates ubiquitous expression of DUSP18.
