Reproductive homeobox on X chromosome 11 (Rhox11), also known as Reproductive homeobox 11, is a nuclear protein encoded by a novel X-linked homeobox gene family. It plays an important role in postnatal testis development and regenerative cell differentiation.
Members of this family possess a conserved 60-amino-acid DNA-binding homeodomain and function as transcription factors involved in developmental processes such as DNA-dependent transcriptional regulation, body-plan specification, pattern formation, and cell fate determination.
These factors are also crucial for understanding the development and physiology of the human reproductive system.
