Target Information
Corticosteroid 11-beta-dehydrogenase는 cortisol과 cortisone 간의 상호전환을 담당하는 미소체 효소 복합체입니다. Type I isozyme은 11-beta-dehydrogenase 및 11-oxoreductase 활성을 모두 가지며, Type II isozyme(HSD11B2)은 11-beta-dehydrogenase 활성을 가집니다. 신장과 같은 알도스테론 선택적 상피조직에서 Type II isozyme은 활성형 glucocorticoid인 cortisol을 비활성형 cortisone으로 전환하여 mineralocorticoid receptor의 비정상적 활성화를 방지합니다. 태반 및 고환 등 mineralocorticoid receptor가 발현되지 않는 조직에서는 세포를 cortisol의 성장 억제 및 세포사멸 유도 효과로부터 보호합니다. 이 유전자의 돌연변이는 apparent mineralocorticoid excess 증후군과 고혈압을 유발할 수 있습니다.
