Product Specific Information

This antibody binds to carboxy-terminal oligo-histidine tags (6x His tags) of fusion proteins.
It also has affinity for internal His-tags but no affinity for N-terminal His-tags.

Target Information

The 6x His tag is a synthetic oligopeptide consisting of six consecutive histidine residues (HHHHHH).
It is commonly expressed at either N- or C-terminal regions of recombinant proteins to allow purification by immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC).

Epitope tagging enables detection of recombinant proteins for which no specific antibody is available.
His-tagged proteins, containing histidine clusters, can be purified using metal chelate chromatography due to the strong and selective affinity of histidine residues for Ni²⁺ ions.
His tag-specific antibodies are valuable for detection and co-immunoprecipitation of tagged proteins.
