Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2)는 혈관, 신장, 심근의 생리 조절에 중요한 역할을 하는 효소입니다.
ACE와 달리 ACE2는 심장, 신장, 고환에 주로 발현되며, SARS 코로나바이러스의 기능적 수용체로 알려져 있습니다.
ACE2는 Angiotensin I을 Ang1-9로, Angiotensin II를 Ang1-7로 전환하여 혈관 긴장 조절에 관여합니다.
ACE2 결핍 생쥐는 심장 수축력 저하를 보여, 심장 기능 조절에 중요한 역할을 함을 시사합니다.
