Target Information
The WNT gene family consists of structurally related genes encoding secreted signaling proteins. These proteins are involved in oncogenesis and various developmental processes, including regulation of cell fate and patterning during embryogenesis.
WNT8B encodes a protein showing 95%, 86%, and 71% amino acid identity to mouse, zebrafish, and Xenopus Wnt8B proteins, respectively. Expression patterns are restricted to the developing brain, and chromosomal location (10q24) suggests a possible link to partial epilepsy.
