Product Specific Information

The 2B8 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD117 (c-Kit receptor), also known as Steel factor receptor or stem cell factor receptor. This 145-kDa tyrosine kinase receptor is expressed in hematopoietic progenitor cells, mast cells, and plays a critical role in their proliferation, differentiation, and activation.

• Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis and immunoprecipitation.
• Applications Tested: Verified for flow cytometric analysis of mouse bone marrow cells. Recommended ≤0.5 µg/test (100 µL final volume).

Target Information

KIT (c-KIT) is a proto-oncogene encoding a type 3 transmembrane receptor for mast cell growth factor (MGF), also known as stem cell factor (SCF). It regulates growth and activation of hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells. Mutations in KIT are linked to gastrointestinal stromal tumors, mast cell disease, acute myelogenous leukemia, and piebaldism.

Upon SCF binding, c-Kit dimerizes and autophosphorylates, activating downstream signaling pathways such as Ras/ERK, PI3K, PLC-γ, and JAK/STAT. This receptor is essential for hematopoiesis, stem cell maintenance, and gametogenesis.
