Target Information
BRD4 is a ubiquitously expressed nuclear phosphoprotein belonging to the BET protein family. It is a human homolog of mouse MCAP and consists of two N-terminal bromodomains, a central ET-domain, and several kinase-like motifs. BRD4 exists in two isoforms, with the longer variant containing a C-terminal region rich in proline and glutamine. It is a chromatin-binding protein induced by growth stimuli and participates in cell cycle regulation through interactions with RFC and SPA-1. BRD4 also regulates chromosomal dynamics during mitosis and serves as a cellular target for the E2 protein of papillomavirus.
