• Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration.
• For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
• Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
• Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
• In ELISA and other immunoreactive assays, this antibody recognizes both native and recombinant human IL-6 in cell supernatants and certain body fluids.
• In Western blot analysis of natural cell products or human body fluids, multiple IL-6 bands may appear due to variable glycosylation.
• A control of similarly diluted normal rabbit IgG is recommended.
• This product shows minimal reactivity with mouse IL-6.

Target Information

IL-6 encodes a cytokine involved in inflammation and B cell maturation. It acts as an endogenous pyrogen, inducing fever in autoimmune diseases or infections.
The gene is expressed at sites of acute and chronic inflammation and promotes transcriptional inflammatory responses via the interleukin 6 receptor alpha.
IL-6 is implicated in various inflammation-associated diseases, including diabetes mellitus, systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, Kaposi sarcoma, and rheumatoid arthritis.
Elevated IL-6 levels are also associated with viral infections, including COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2 infection).
