Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a chemokine receptor belonging to the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily. Members of this family are characterized by seven transmembrane domains and conserved amino acids. XCR1 is closely related to RBS11 and the MIP1-alpha/RANTES receptor and transduces signals by increasing intracellular calcium levels. The viral macrophage inflammatory protein-II acts as an antagonist, blocking signaling. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
