Target Information
ATP synthase is a highly conserved transmembrane enzyme found in plants, fungi, bacteria, and animals. It catalyzes the reversible conversion of ADP and phosphate to ATP through proton flux across the membrane driven by electron transfer. The enzyme consists of two main sections:
- F1 ATPase (soluble): composed of alpha, beta, gamma, delta, and epsilon subunits
- F0 ATPase (membrane embedded): composed of a, b, and c subunits
