Product Specific Information
This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.
Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:
- Better specificity and sensitivity
- Lot-to-lot consistency
- Animal origin-free formulations
- Broader immunoreactivity due to larger rabbit immune repertoire
This antibody has specificity for Human CD5/Cluster of Differentiation 5.
Target Information
CD5 is a 67 kDa human T-lymphocyte single-chain transmembrane glycoprotein. It is present on all mature T-lymphocytes, most thymocytes, and many T-cell leukemias and lymphomas. CD5 also reacts with a subpopulation of activated B-cells and may act as a receptor regulating T-cell proliferation. It is found on 95% of thymocytes and 72% of peripheral blood lymphocytes, with main reactivity in T cell areas of lymph nodes. Diseases associated with CD5 dysfunction include thymus cancer and Richter’s Syndrome.
