MA5-17087 detects HAS2, which has a predicted molecular weight of approximately 63.5 kDa.

Target Information

Hyaluronan (HA) is a high molecular weight unbranched polysaccharide synthesized by organisms ranging from bacteria to mammals and is a key component of the extracellular matrix. It consists of alternating glucuronic acid and N-acetylglucosamine residues linked by β-1,3 and β-1,4 glycosidic bonds.
HA is synthesized by membrane-bound synthase at the inner surface of the plasma membrane and extruded into the extracellular space. It functions in space filling, joint lubrication, and as a matrix for cell migration.
HA production increases during wound healing and tissue repair, supporting angiogenesis and fibroblast growth.
Alterations in HA levels are associated with inflammatory and degenerative diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis.
Interaction of HA with CD44 plays a role in leukocyte homing, and overexpression of HA receptors correlates with tumor metastasis.
HAS2 belongs to the vertebrate gene family encoding hyaluronan synthases and shares homology with glycosaminoglycan synthetase (DG42) from Xenopus laevis, as well as human and murine HAS1.
