Target Information
CWC22 is required for pre-mRNA splicing as a component of the spliceosome (PubMed:12226669, 11991638, 22961380, 28502770, 28076346, 29360106, 29301961).
It promotes exon-junction complex (EJC) assembly (PubMed:22959432, 22961380), prevents EIF4A3 from non-specific RNA binding, and facilitates its recruitment to the splicing machinery to promote EJC assembly on mature mRNAs.
Through its role in EJC assembly, CWC22 is required for nonsense-mediated mRNA decay. [UniProt]
