Target Information
The KINDLIN family consists of three focal adhesion proteins that localize to integrin adhesion sites. These proteins contain a centrally located FERM domain interrupted by a pleckstrin homology (PH) domain.
KINDLIN1 and KINDLIN2 are widely expressed and play essential roles in integrin-mediated adhesion and spreading, whereas KINDLIN3 is restricted to hematopoietic cells, particularly megakaryocytes and platelets.
Misregulation of KINDLIN expression has been associated with various cancers. Studies suggest KINDLIN3 is critical for platelet integrin activation and outside-in signaling, making it a potential therapeutic target for modulating integrin activation in platelets and leukocytes.
