Product Specific Information
MA1-410 detects the progesterone receptor (PR) from human, non-human primate, bovine, rat, rabbit, and mouse tissues.
This antibody does not cross-react with androgen receptor, estrogen receptor, or glucocorticoid receptor.
- Suitable for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunoprecipitation procedures
- Detects PRA (94 kDa) and PRB (120 kDa) proteins from T47D whole cell lysate
- Performs optimally in Western blot using BSA as the blocking agent
- Immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues G(533)–P(547) of human Progesterone Receptor
- Can be used with blocking peptide PEP-016
Target Information
The progesterone receptor (PR) is a nuclear steroid receptor mediating the physiological effects of progesterone, crucial for reproductive processes such as pregnancy establishment and maintenance.
PR exists as two forms:
- PR-A (94 kDa): lacks 165 amino acids at the N-terminus, acts as a transcriptional repressor
- PR-B (120 kDa): transcriptionally active, regulates genes for endometrial maintenance and ovulation inhibition
In its inactive state, PR forms a multiprotein complex with heat shock proteins and immunophilins. Upon progesterone binding, conformational changes enable dimerization and binding to progesterone response elements (PRE), activating transcription.
Mutations in the PGR gene can lead to reproductive abnormalities.
