Target Information
TRAIL (TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand) is a cytokine belonging to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family. It preferentially induces apoptosis in transformed and tumor cells while sparing normal cells, despite being expressed in most normal tissues.
TRAIL binds to several TNF receptor superfamily members, including TRAILR1 (DR4), TRAILR2 (DR5), TRAILR3 (DcR1), TRAILR4 (DcR2), and TNFRSF11B/OPG.
Binding to these receptors can activate MAPK8/JNK, caspase 8, and caspase 3 pathways.
TRAIL is a type II membrane protein expressed in various human tissues and plays roles in apoptosis and NF-κB activation.
