Target Information
Thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) is an important cytokine that drives dendritic cell maturation and activation. It plays roles in:
- Positive selection of regulatory T cells
- Maintenance of peripheral CD4+ T cell homeostasis
- Induction of CD4+ T cell-mediated allergic reactions
TSLP supports the growth and differentiation of fetal liver and adult B cell progenitors to the IgM-positive stage.
Its receptor, TSLP-R, binds TSLP with low affinity in transfected cells; co-transfection with IL-7Rα cDNA results in high-affinity binding and formation of a functional heteromeric complex. This receptor complex requires STAT5 for TSLP-mediated signal transduction and is inhibited by SOCS-1.
