Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. They are composed of multiple different recombinant monoclonal antibodies, combining the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity and consistency of monoclonal antibodies.

These antibodies recognize multiple epitope sites on the target, providing higher detection sensitivity for low-abundance targets. Each lot contains a known mixture of light and heavy chains, ensuring reproducible results and eliminating biological variability seen in traditional polyclonal production.

Target Information

Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is a chymotrypsin-like serine protease (kallikrein family) produced by prostate epithelium and abundant in seminal fluid. PSA can be detected in the sera of patients with prostatic carcinoma, primarily complexed with alpha-1-antichymotrypsin (ACT).

A higher proportion of serum PSA is complexed with ACT in prostate cancer compared to benign prostatic hyperplasia. PSA is used to confirm prostatic acinar cell origin in primary and metastatic carcinoma and to rule out non-prostatic carcinoma mimics.
