Tenascin C는 고분자량의 다기능 세포외기질 당단백질로, 발생 과정 중 간엽-상피 상호작용 및 미분화 종양의 신생혈관과 간질에서 발현됩니다 (Erickson and Bourdon 1989).
다양한 명칭으로 보고된 바 있으며, cytotactin, hexabrachion protein, J1, myotendinous antigen (MI), glioma mesenchymal extracellular matrix (GMEM) 등이 있습니다.
Tenascin 분자는 이황화 결합으로 연결된 헥사머 구조를 가지며, 정상 및 병리적 발달과 성장에 관여합니다. 정상 성인 조직에서는 제한적으로 분포합니다.
