Description:
The IP26 monoclonal antibody reacts with the alpha beta chain of human TCR. The alpha beta TCR is expressed by the majority of peripheral T cells.

Applications Reported:
This IP26 antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
This antibody has been pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells.
Use at 5 µL (0.5 µg) per test. A test is defined as the amount (µg) of antibody that will stain a cell sample in a final volume of 100 µL.
Cell number should be determined empirically (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

Target Information

The T cell antigen receptor (TCR) consists of a ligand-specific alpha/beta heterodimer non-covalently associated with five invariant chains including CD3 gamma/delta/eta and zeta subunits, all required for efficient surface expression. T cell activation through the TCR induces differentiation, proliferation, and production of lymphokines and cytokines.
Most T cells in blood, lymph, and secondary lymphoid organs express TCR alpha/beta heterodimers, whereas TCR gamma/delta T cells are mainly found in epithelial tissues and infection sites.
Deficiency of any chain halts surface expression. TCR recognition of self-peptides is linked to autoimmune disease, and mutant self-peptides have been associated with tumors.
Engagement by bacterial superantigens can cause toxic shock syndrome.
Autoantibodies to V beta segments of TCRs have been found in rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus, potentially modulating immune responses.
Gamma-delta T cells show less diversity and distinct antigen recognition, with subsets exhibiting antitumor and immunoregulatory functions.
