Target Information
CD45 (LCA, leukocyte common antigen) is a receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) expressed in all nucleated hematopoietic cells, comprising about 10% of lymphocyte surface proteins.
It is absent in non-hematopoietic tissues and cell lines. CD45 plays a crucial role in lymphocyte development and antigen signaling, regulating Src-family kinases.
Multiple isoforms exist due to alternative splicing, sharing identical transmembrane and cytoplasmic domains but differing in extracellular regions.
CD45RA is one isoform with restricted expression among lymphoid cell subtypes.
CD45 regulates T- and B-cell receptor signaling, suppresses JAK kinases, and modulates integrin-mediated signal transduction, apoptosis, and other immune functions.
